II. Academic Achievement

A.

Key Academic Goals Report

Ms. Clark shared the most recent data from the data dashboard that both she and we as a committee regularly monitor. We see improvements in 6th grade across multiple measures, which has been an area of focus. Amy noted a deeper focus on student work and student learning with that team, a shift from the start of the year, when the focus (necessarily so) was tech tools and teacher moves.
We examined Interim data, grades, teacher survey data and HW completion

Potentially think about the definitions of HW as "asynchronous work" that we expect students to complete. Ms. Clark will follow up with the team for continued discussion.
As it relates to the teacher survey, there were several highlights, one area to look further into is how to incorporate more praise into coaching practices.

Ms. Clark also shared BOY and MY MAP data, explained the purpose of this assessment, as it is new to Veritas and this committee. It is a growth measure, distinct from formative interim assessments.

This data confirms some of the other data points we have, but also tells us the number of students that are growing and gives us opportunity to engage students in their own data.

B.

Updates on Hybrid Pod of Students, Spring MCAS and ACCESS Testing

Ms. Clark shared that the MAP data was also used to determine which students to invite back into the building (hybrid pod) to provide more targeted supports, each cohort two days a week, and we will increase that number with a new person we have hired to do so.

We discussed how the ESR grants are supporting some of this work and will be a continued source of funding to support learning loss. It will be important to make well-informed and strategic decisions about how to best invest that funding.

MCAS will be administered this Spring. It will be a shortened assessment and will not be used for accountability status, but will serve as a helpful baseline data point to understand what the impact of interrupted/virtual schooling has been.
