ELA 6th grade results this past year (16-17) much better than years past
Maldonado: What was different from years past?
Strong grasp of curriculum from our teachers
Teachers (6th/11th grade ELA) keep their expectations high and support students who start to fall behind
Overall: ELA gaining proficiency amongst all students
Math:
6th jumped from 11% to almost 50% proficiency
7th jumped from 14 to 32%
Need to put emphasis on math in HS; 11th grade Math performance in SBAC was not strong
Overall: Math improved overall at Ceiba
Ripp: Piloting CPM at MS level; may roll out to HS next year
Maldonado: Do we know how many students were educated in Mexico at all?
Ripp/Millar: Almost none. Most from PVUSD
Millar: We have a renewed energy around teamwork; especially at the high school level. SBAC is an extensive test.
Parra: Are we spending enough time in curriculum to address these expectations for SBAC?
Ripp: Using Edmentum this year to follow common core standards.
