Call the Meeting to Order

S. Westmoreland called a meeting of the Academic Committee Committee of The Kindezi Schools Board of Directors to order on Friday Feb 20, 2026 at 8:47 AM.

Approve Minutes

C. Stocker Barnhil made a motion to approve the minutes from Academic Committee Meeting on 01-23-26.

Damon Bailey seconded the motion 

The committee VOTED to approve the motion.

Academic Overview

West Middle School identified for Targeted Support (TSI)

  • How did we get here
  • Plan of Support
  • Current Progress 
  • State walkthrough
  • ~12% Sped population at West for middle school 
  • Asked about MS CSI - reading and math are currently projecting higher in proficiency than last year, and intensive support for 8th science 

Mid-Year Amira Results

  • 87% (401) Low Risk
  • 5% (25) At Risk Weaker Signals 
  • 7% (34) At Risk Stronger Signals 
  • Boy- moy increase the number of students in the low-risk category, fewer geniuses showing reading risk
  • Next assessment - April

Professional Learning Impact

  • 70 hours of professional learning as of Feb 13
  • Q3 shift to PL for what's coming ahead 
  • overall effectiveness and ready to implement improvements as rated by teachers 
  • Next phase Move from satisfaction → implementation → genius impact.
  • Are we changing the curriculum? Social studies and science are areas we are looking to see what is out there to support our vision for a genius awakening education. No changes in math and ELA

Academic Vision for GA2030

We intentionally design holistic genius awakening learning experiences that cultivate the innate genius of every child and equip them to thrive in the world.

Better Path for AI report 

Exemplar guidebook for AI - Chicago Public Schools, operations team, looking at the guidebook, and a part of the strategic plan, will work on our guidebook as well
