PUBLIC NOTICE: 

 

Pursuant to emergency proclamation 30-JCE 2020, the Rooted School New Orleans Board hereby certifies that it will conduct all meetings scheduled for 2025 - 2026, in person (unless otherwise designated), at 6701 Press Dr. in the College of Education Building & Human Development on SUNO's campus in the Social Hall (Room 106) on the 1st Floor.

 

Board meetings shall be held in this manner until further notice.

II. SPECIAL ACTION SESSION ITEMS - VOTES ON THE NEW ROOTED SCHOOL BOARD OF DIRECTORS FOR SY 2026 - 2029 5:05 PM
  A. Vote on Mr. Brandon Shelling to the Rooted School Board of Directors Vote Mark Quinn 5 m
   
  • Mr. Shelling will be introduced to the community by Board Chair, Mr. Mark Quinn.
  • Mr. Shelling will briefly introduce himself and present his vision and mission to the Rooted School Board of Directors and to the community.

Rooted School student, Sean Augustine, will briefly discuss his experiences during his time at Rooted School.

 
  B. PUBLIC BUDGET MEETING PRE-WORK - Budget & Enrollment Update & Overview Discuss Joe Daschbach 20 m
   

I.     Joe Daschbach of EdOps will present on: 

 

  • FY 2025 - 2026  budget update and overview for Q3 & Q4
  • Public Budget Hearing Pre-Work - Initial review of 2026 - 2027 budget w/analysis
 
  C. Financial Disclosure Notification for All Board of Directors Discuss Kaitlin Karpinski 5 m
   

Ms. Karpinski, Rooted School Executive Director, will present on the state mandate for financial disclosure statements - DUE DATE MAY 15, 2026.

 
IV. PUBLIC MEETING PORTION: ACTION SESSION AGENDA ITEMS 5:45 PM
 

The Board will take action on all items in this portion of the meeting. 

 
  A. BOARD APPROVAL OF AMENDMENTS & UPDATES TO THE 2026 - 2027 BOARD OF DIRECTORS BYLAWS Vote Frank Ingargiola 5 m
   

The Board will vote to approve all edits, amendments and updates to the 2026 - 2027 Rooted School Board of Directors Bylaws - [SEE ATTACHED].

VI. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR REPORT:
 

Ms. Kaitlin Karpinski, Executive Director, will report on key success indicators for school years 2025 - 2026 & 2026 - 2027:

 

  1. 2026 - 2027 Enrollment Projections
  2. 2025 -2026 SPS Predictions
  3. Charter Renewal Process - Fall 2026-2027
  4. CSAF Updates
  5. LDOE Curriculum/Course Updates for 2026-2027
  6. HB 795 - Bill proposing increased fees, amounting to approximately $165 per student in fee collection services
