G. Briggs called a meeting of the Academic Achievement Committee Committee of Élan Academy Charter School to order on Wednesday Aug 27, 2025 at 5:07 PM.

II. Academic Achievement Committee

A.

Review Draft 25-26 Committee Goals

Mr. Briggs presented and led a discussion on the Committee goals for FYE 2025/2026:

  1. Establish clear, comprehensive, and consensus driven definition of academic excellence to guide institutional standards and practices 
  2. Establish clear and comprehensive guidelines for providing support during non-testing windows to ensure continuous student assistance and engagement
  3. Develop a comprehensive academic resource tool to support effective board orientation and understanding of institutional academic program and policies

Review 24-25 LEAP Data

Dr. Clark led discussion on 2025 LEAP Assessment Academic Report:

  • Overall Analysis Trends:
    • Grade 8 Mastery (50%) is a highlight and can serve as best practice model
    • Math is the most urgent concern with nearly flat Advanced achievement across all grades
    • Lower grade English & Science performance signals early learning Gaps that must be addressed before middle school
  • Success Metrics:
    • Reduce percentage of students scoring Unsatisfactory by 20%
    • Increase Mastery-level achievement projections by 10% in mathematics
    • Enhance writing scores across all grades lower grade levels
