Consider and Approve the Resignation of Executive Director Andrea Moore
The board discussed the input from teachers and families and expressed confusion and frustration about what was happening at the meeting. Board Member Carver asked about options other than resignation in light of the public comment. Board Member Carver moved to reject the resignation and the board discussed the necessity of still conducting an investigation. The board asked Ms. Moore if she was wiling to continue in her role at TEACH and Ms. Moore stated that she would be willing to stay on.

Consider and Approve a Plan for Continuity and Interim Operations
Because the resignation of Ms. Moore was not accepted by the Board and she agreed to continue in her role as ED, considering and approving a plan for continuity and interim operations became moot. There was some discussion between Chair Allison and Ms. Moore about Ms. Allison's role and responsibility in handling parent complaints.

The next Regular Board Meeting is scheduled for October 17, 2023 at 5 pm.

Public Comment
There was additional public comment in support for Ms. Moore staying on and the concerns of parents and teachers about security and proper decision making at the school were expressed.
C.
Board Member Comments
Board members expressed confusion and frustration about the meeting and the situation at the school. Board member Carver commented about the need for security and support at the school site. Board Member Horn expressed concerns about the situation and the process as well. Board Member Branch thanked parents for attending the five hour meeting and taking part in the meeting. He clarified for the parents and community the structure of the governing board and distinguished their role in governance and not in the day to day operations of the school. He also stated that during board meetings, the board is bound by certain open meeting laws and a process for conducting the discussion.
Over 130 people spoke during the public comment section of the meeting. Many parents expressed appreciation for the work that Ms. Moore was doing. Teachers commented that she was supportive and not racist. Some parents expressed outrage at the meeting and the idea that Ms. Moore was being forced to resign. Other parents testified that there was inappropriate behavior and messaging coming from the Executive Director. The public comment continued for several hours.
