Call the Meeting to Order

L. Neal called a meeting of the board of directors of Green Dot Public Schools Tennessee to order on Wednesday Jan 22, 2020 at 4:09 PM.

II. Consent Agenda

A.

Minutes from December 12, 2019 GDPST Board of Directors meeting 

L. Neal made a motion to approve the minutes from Board Meeting on 12-12-19.
P. Egwuekwe seconded the motion.
The board VOTED to approve the motion.

B.

Lead Water Testing Policy and Credit Recovery Policy

L. Neal made a motion to approve all items in the consent agenda.
P. Egwuekwe seconded the motion.
The board VOTED to approve the motion.

III. GDPST Leadership Team Updates

A.

College Ready Learners

Mrs. Hudgins updated the Board on GDPS Tennessee's school-level SY20 semester one (1) final exam data, specifically as it compares to SY19 TNReady success rates. 
E. Nenon arrived.

B.

Engaged Parents & Community

Mrs. Rodgers updated the Board on GDPS Tennessee's current enrollment data and strategy. 

C.

Highly Effective Team Members

Dr. DeMagistris updated the Board on teacher/counselor retention rates, current wellness initiatives, informal intent to return process for school-based staff, and 2020 recruitment efforts. 

IV. GDPST Board Business

A.

Advocacy Updates

Chair Neal led the Board in a discussion regarding local and state-wide political challenges, specifically related to the potential transfer of ASD schools back to local districts. Dr. Quaile updated the Board on GDPS Tennessee's current and upcoming advocacy efforts, and asked the Board to begin connecting GDPS Tennessee staff with Nashville-based contacts. 

B.

Board Committees

Dr. Quaile and Chair Neal led the Board in a discussion regarding existing GDPS Board Committees and the creation of GDPS Tennessee Board Committees. Chair Neal and P. Egwuekwe proposed the creation of a Governance Committee. P. Egwuekwe suggested the creation of an Education Committee, Parental Engagement Committee and a Policy Committee. Chair Neal asked the Board to propose potential committees via email by January 31, 2020. 

C.

Board Recruitment

Chair Neal led the Board in a discussion around Board recruitment, current gaps, and establishing a process for recruitment. C. Simmons suggested the recruitment of a Board member with ties to Nashville and/or politics. Chair Neal asked Dr. Quaile to provide the Board with a copy of GDPS Board of Directors on-boarding processes by January 31, 2020.

The Board entered Closed Session at 5:48 p.m.
