Perea Elementary School will prepare all students academically, socially, and emotionally for success by creating and maintaining a classroom and school environment that is student-centered, with high academic expectations and where all students feel welcomed, appreciated, and valued.

Call the Meeting to Order

J. Boyd called a meeting of the board of directors of Perea Elementary School to order on Thursday May 23, 2024 at 4:33 PM.

Approve Minutes

Motion to approve the minutes from SOP Board Meeting Announcement on 04-25-24.
The board VOTED to approve the motion.

II. Executive Director's Reports

A.

Executive Director's Updates

Enrollment Update

 

  •    PPS and PES enrollment update shared by Arby Martin.

Summer Learning Programs

 

  •  Required programming in place, with priority for 3rd and 4th grade students. Program will run from June 3 - July 1, 2024.

 

Preliminary Staffing Needs

 

  •  Staffing projections for SY2425 shared by Arby Martin.

Perea institute and Proposed Launch

 

  • Dr. Davis shared the proposal for Perea Institute as a path to achieve and continue the work and impact. It will position us to provide greater service to students, families, and the community at large while allowing academics and social-emotional components to work in closer tandem. We are awaiting a proposal from Urban Renaissance regarding property acquisition. It is recommended that we create a non-profit LLC with PES being the sole member for protection of the institute.
  • Motion and second for establishment of Perea Institute LLC. Unanimous vote in favor.

SY2324 Budget Updates

 

  • Katie Wise shared SY2324 budget updates and initial scenarios for SY2425.

Facilities Committee Update

Facilities/Renovations

 

  • Renovations are set to begin on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. 

 

D.

Governance Committee Update

 

  • Contributions for Teacher Appreciation Week.
  • Board on Track survey sent.
  • 46 responses from community stakeholder survey. Survey still open. The Governance Committee will provide summary of responses in advance of the retreat.
  • Retreat scheduled for Thursday, June 20, 2024, 12:00pm-5:00pm.

  • Parent Training with Memphis Lift.
  • SOP Board Retreat June 20, 2024.
  • SOP Board Meeting Break for July 2024, resume in August 2024.
