Mission

 

Perea Elementary School will prepare all students academically, socially, and emotionally for success by creating and maintaining a classroom and school environment that is student-centered, with high academic expectations and where all students feel welcomed, appreciated, and valued.

Call the Meeting to Order

J. Stokes called a meeting of the board of directors of Perea Elementary School to order on Thursday Oct 26, 2023 at 4:30 PM.

Approve Minutes

A. Langston made a motion to approve the minutes from SOP Board Meeting Announcement on 09-28-23.
A. Cates seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

II. Executive Director's Reports

Executive Director's Updates

Case Assessment

 

  • Presented Projected 23-24 AMO goals.
  • Have not met goals in Math and ELA.
  • Two more test before TCAP.
  • (State Report) Perea received an Embargo letter grade A.

SEL

 

  • SEL clinicians are assisting to help with behavior and learning curves.
  • Peer to Peer mishaps on SEL with increased suspensions.
  • The Grounded program helps 4th and 5th graders with SEL.
  • Occurrences are happening with the same students, and we are working with parents.
  • Students are being referred out for special services.

PPS

 

  • Meeting DHS requirements.
  • Data is being assessed for Brigance screening.
  • Current enrollment 117; under enrolled this school year.
  • Will open PreK 3 classroom in January.

Finance Committee Update/Summary

Finance

 

  • Trending as normal.

Revenue

 

  • Increase due to TISA.
  • Great enrollment affects revenue.
  • Grants- Facilities, federal and philanthropic funds (may budget differently around this).

Expenses

 

  • Trending similarly.
  • Managing expenses are good.
  • Coming in as expected. PES is breaking even and PPS has a small deficit.
  • Maintaining a good cash reserve.
  • 5 year enrollment plan can be satisfactory if enrollment remains up.

B.

Facilities Committee Update

  • The architects visited the building for the space on the 1st floor and view plans.
  • EDI consultant group for the new space.

New Partnerships/Special Projects

  • Reiterated - All Memphis is in play.
