Perea Elementary School will prepare all students academically, socially, and emotionally for success by creating and maintaining a classroom and school environment that is student-centered, with high academic expectations and where all students feel welcomed, appreciated, and valued.

Call the Meeting to Order

J. Boyd called a meeting of the board of directors of Perea Elementary School to order on Thursday Mar 23, 2023 at 4:30 PM.

Introduction of new Board Member

Justin Merrick was introduced to the board by Jim Boyd

Approve Minutes

J. Stokes made a motion to approve the minutes from Perea Elementary School Board Meeting on 02-23-23.
A. Langston seconded the motion.
The board VOTED to approve the motion.

II. Community Comments

A.

Community comments presented by Felecia Taylor

  1. Major social and emotional growth
  2. Ensure D. Ussery works with new staff; be a mentor.
  3. Change is hard.
  4. Family events are critical.

III. School Leader's Report

A.

Recruitment and Retention presented by Ms. Tamika Walker

  1. PES New and Returning Target enrollment 420.
  2. PPS New and Returning Target enrollment 144.
  3. Recruitment; Community events, Recruitment Packets and Spring Canvassing.

 

B.

School Leader Report

1. PES Design Blueprint (Transcend) provides elements of Perea (School Strong).

2. MSCS January Operations Scorecard report- received overall score 5.

3. 3rd Grade Retention Update- providing Saturday tutoring and (Bloomberg Grant)Summer   learning.

Finance

 

1. Monthly Review - slight improvement.

2. SY2324 Budget updates- planned approval June.

3. PES 18K per student.

4. PPS 13K per student.

Governance

Board Calendar/Retreat 

 

1. Months suggested for Retreat - April 29, May and June.

2. Items to be discussed during Retreat - Goal setting, Committee and Budget.
