Call the Meeting to Order

S. Madlinger called a meeting of the School Performance Committee of The Leadership School to order on Wednesday Jul 15, 2026 at 6:03 PM.

II. SP Comm Goal #1

A.

Operations

  • Meeting Operations: Courtney Moulder was the note-taker.
  • Meeting Norms: The committee established norms. 1) keep cameras on and 2) the agenda open on participants' computers during meetings.
  • Committee Charter Revisions: A work team consisting of Stephanie Madlinger, Courtney Moulder, and Whitni Perry was formed to revise the 2026–2027 School Performance Committee Charter based on updated internal goals, with plans to present a draft at the next Board Meeting, July 28 and the August 12, 2026, committee meeting.
    • Charter Goal Stewardship: The work team will also review how members can become stewards of specific goals (monitoring, thought partnering, and reporting) and bring a proposal back to the full committee.

III. SP Comm Goal 4

A.

Staff Evaluation Instruments

  • Staff Evaluation Instruments: Reviewed revisions to evaluation rubrics for staff. Updated instruments for new or unfinished positions are due to the School Performance Committee by September 9, 2026, for board approval on September 29, 2026.
  • Professional Culture: Discussed the need for expanded coaching support in Social Studies, Science, and Social Emotional Learning (SEL), as well as increased training opportunities for restorative justice protocols.

Review Deadlines for Charter Renewal Goals

1. Instruction and Assessment

  • MAP Achievement Data: Reviewed 2026 MAP achievement data across grades 3–5 for ELA, Math, and Science.
  • Charter Renewal & Internal Goals: Discussed progress on Charter Renewal Goals and AY 27 internal goal revisions. Key upcoming tasks include adjusting MAP targets (Goal #1) by the August 1 Board Retreat, and finalizing language for Student Leadership (Goal #3) and Teacher Satisfaction/Retention (Goal #4).

2. Technology and Curriculum

  • Digital Citizenship: Commenced planning for integrating digital literacy into the student curriculum, with a work group (Keisha, JB, Rebecca, and Stephanie) formed July 13, 2026
    • FAM U Session: Coordinating support for an upcoming student FAM U session focused on digital citizenship and literacy.

3. Intervention

  • Counseling & Wellness: Initiated development of internal goals for the school’s counseling program. The committee is currently establishing metrics for success, such as measuring student social/emotional development, small group participation, and academic efficacy. Keisha Seymour is taking the lead on this initiative.

Discuss Revisions to AY 27 Internal Goals

  • Internal Growth Goals #2 and #4: The committee required revised language to reflect growth toward proficiency, with a deadline for the Board Retreat, August 1st.
  • Goal 3 (iReady Achievement): The committee is evaluating raising the proficiency target for iReady Math for the 2026-2027 school year.
  • Goal 6 (Student Leadership): The committee is in the process of determining which specific goals to adopt internally. A Student Leadership Development team is convening on Monday, July 27 consisting of Keisha, Desiree, Rebecca, Becky and Stephanie.
  • Goal 7 (Caregiver Satisfaction): Discussion focused on reviewing survey questions, including the possibility of adding items regarding school communication and the effectiveness of handling concerns.
  • Goal 9 (Teacher Satisfaction): The committee is updating this goal to incorporate the Attuned Survey (replacing the TNTP survey) and is considering setting a goal related to whole-staff satisfaction.

Review Draft Student Leadership Development Policy

4. Social Emotional

  • Student Leadership Policy: Reviewed the draft Student Leadership Development Policy. The committee is revising the document for conciseness and plans to incorporate feedback from the student council in September.
  • Goal Updates: Continued aligning Goal #6 (Student Leadership) with school culture targets for the upcoming academic year.
  • The Student Leadership Development team will discuss further on Monday, July 27, 2026.

E.

Goal 7 - Family Satisfaction

  • Family Attendance: TLS will report on plans to increase family buy-in for consistent attendance at the August 12, 2026, School Performance Committee meeting.
  • Communication & Data Tracking:
    • The committee discussed consolidating the Events Tracker and Participation Tracker into one Google Sheet to better communicate with stakeholders.
    • There is interest in improving automatic syncing between these trackers and the school calendar to keep stakeholders informed.
    • JB & Stephanie are working to update the TLS Staff, TLS Family / Caregiver, and TLS Board Calendars to be more effective. 
  • Survey Feedback: To increase feedback on surveys, the committee discussed strategies such as placing QR codes at school events.
    • Summer Newsletter: The newsletter is currently in progress and scheduled for release on August 1. It will be distributed via email, Dojo, PowerSchool, the school website, and social media.
  • Board/Community Coffee: Keisha is sending out an interest form to gauge potential attendance. The committee is exploring potential partnerships with the Legacy Center to host these events, with timing options being evaluated to maximize participation.

IV. Charter Goal 1: MAP Achievement

A.

Review 2026 MAP Data

The committee reviewed preliminary 2026 MAP achievement data, which included results for English Language Arts (ELA), Math, and Science in grades 3 through 5. This data review is used to inform upcoming academic planning and goal setting, specifically regarding charter renewal targets. Further details on specific performance metrics are limited to committee operations and will be shared with the public once released by DESE.

  • Action Items:
    • Newsletter: Summer newsletter is scheduled for release on August 1, 2026.
    • Family Engagement: The committee will receive a report at the August meeting regarding plans to increase family buy-in and attendance.
    • Student Leadership Development team: A report on policy, integration activities, and support will be shared at the Board Retreat, August 1st and the next SP meeting, August 12.
