C. Cuellar-Lezcano called a meeting of the Academic Excellence Committee Committee of The New American Academy Charter School to order on Tuesday Apr 28, 2026 at 3:08 PM.
II. How to increase oracy in math?

Discussion
- We took a look at this rubric on our own
- Noticing:
- Deb asked for clarification
- Jenny used a sample math problem to help her process this
- Diamond - language of the rubric and how it aligns to school language; how does this look like for each band
- Dr. Babb shared the test prep - planning document
- We discussed taking the rubric to the grade level bands and only work on the middle portion - explanation and justification since this closely aligns to the improvement we want to see from kids.
- DTLs will also share with Paloma for feedback.
- We'll come back together at June's meeting and discuss the vertical alignment.

Next meeting
We're going to cancel May's meeting since we won't have EOY data ready yet. We'll meet on June 9th.
