Review of April financial Report 

Education

•  As discussed at our last meeting, E. Farley, Master Teacher for Team Tubman has announced she will not return to TNAACS next year
• The TNAACS Educational Leadership Team met and has a succession plan as follows:
  • The ELT discussed and all agree it is problematic to bring in a Master Teacher from the outside
  • In looking within our current organization the strongest candidate is Diamond Mays, who is currently a Partner Teacher under Jenny Trani.
  • Ms. Mays is currently receiving Leadership mentoring from J. Trani and she is currently coaching/mentoring teachers both within her own team and Team Tubman E. Farley's current team.
  • While Ms. Mays came to us with teacher certification from another state and will have her provisional certification by the end of June (pending acceptance of her EDTPA she will need to go back to school to be permanently certified in NYS , which she has agreed to do
  • Ms. Mays has agreed to join Team Tubman as their partner teacher and support and lead this team in that role.
  • Ms. Mays and the team will be mentored and supported by J. Trani with the goal of being promoted to a full Master Teacher 
  • The ELT unanimously voted in favor of this plan 
  • This will not only support the team and its teachers, but be cost effective as anticipated enrollment for next year's Kindergarten is below our target of 65 students

 

Current anticipated enrollment for 2019/2020 is as follows: 
K- 38
1st -52 to 55
2nd - 64 to 65
3rd - 64 to 65
4th - 70 to 72
5th - 58
Current total enrollment - 349 to 351

Goal is 350 students
 

• We have sent out a Vanguard mailing in insure additional applicants.

Governance

• On Friday May 17, 2019 Board interview for two potential new members were conducted
• Candidate 1 - Aida Sadr-Kiani - discuss and vote
• Candidate 2 - Holly Sparks - Discuss and vote
• Next steps - M. Harrington

Timeline for Board on Track CEO Evaluation:

• Headmaster Starts her Self Evaluation  on 5/29/19
• Headmaster Shares Self Evaluation with the board on 6/11/19
• Board completes the evaluation of the Headmaster by 7/12/19
• Headmaster Direct reports then complete the evaluation 7/12/19
• Direct reports complete the evaluation by 7/21/19

• Kimberly Santiago will be unable to do an onsite visit
• TNAACS will receive a Desk Audit instead
• L. Silva & M. Harrington have begun The renewal application for submission this August
• Our Renewal site visit will be in the Fall
• Board members are required to meet with the Renewal Team in person
