Review and Approval of Resolution No. 2026-10-28 Authorizing Submission of Charter Renewal Petition to LAUSD

Mandy Rogers made a motion to approve Resolution No. 2026-10-28, Authorizing Submission of Charter Renewal Petition to LAUSD.
Beatriz Chen seconded the motion.

Mr. Bennett reported that the charter renewal petition will be delivered to the LAUSD Charter Schools Division on October 29, 2026 at 1:00 PM, along with the required checklist items (including the certificate of completeness, board resolution, minutes, bylaws, articles of incorporation, conflict of interest code and policy, budget information, policies and procedures, lottery and enrollment forms, leadership and board member resumes and questionnaires, and the English learner master plan). Dr. Placencio expressed concern that the petition's governance section does not address the governance issues the school has faced and the corrective actions taken, and that board members received the final document late. Other board members noted that the school's response to the Notice of Alleged Violations, submitted October 26, 2026, addresses those matters with evidence and actions. Dr. Archibald stated that the petition is a forward-looking statement that fairly reflects the current board's governance practices.

The board VOTED to approve the motion.
