There being no further business to be transacted, and upon motion duly made, seconded and approved, the meeting was adjourned at 7:00 PM.

E7-E4 Staff Technology Acceptable Use Policy - suggested addition to "Ethics" section, and approved for vote: "Intellectual property (IP) refers to creations of the mind, such as inventions; literary and artistic works; designs; and symbols, names and images used in commerce. As an employee of Brighten Academy, intellectual property is any documents, spreadsheets, images, presentations, or other electronic artifacts created or downloaded/modified using Brighten Academy resources belong to the organization. Examples include, but are not limited to, lesson plans, lesson resources, rosters, communication logs, policy documents, attendance records, etc.
Any and all electronic artifacts need to be retained on an employee's account even after that person no longer works for Brighten Academy. Intentionally or accidentally removing electronic artifacts is a violation of this policy."
H18 Threats of Violence - Tabled. Interest raised with disciplinary actions that "may" accompany actions pertaining to certain events related to this policy. DCSS policy must be referenced to ensure alignment.
H20 weapons in schools - Tabled. Interest raised with disciplinary actions that "may" accompany actions pertaining to certain events related to this policy. Also, administrators' right to use discretion and how this discretion would be used were discussion points. DCSS policy must be referenced to ensure alignment.
H21 Seclusion and Restraint - Tabled. Discussion centered on the consistency of training that matches what DCSS provides. DCSS policy must be referenced to ensure alignment.
G7 Athletic Student Health Requirements - Reviewed, no changes.
G7-E1 Athletic Student Health Forms - Reviewed, no changes.
H22 Student and Classroom Observations - Reviewed, no changes.
H29 School Safety–Security Video Recordings - Tabled. Discussion centered expenses associated with video preparation and student privacy. DCSS policy must be referenced to ensure alignment.
Electronic Device and Toys (from handbook and H26) - Tabled. Discussion centered on verbiage to differentiate usage from possession and the consequences associated with each. Questions were raised about after school communication considerations and why toys are included in the guidance. DCSS policy must be referenced to see the level of alignment.
Protecting Georgia's Children on Social Media Act of 2024 - Tabled. Awaiting guidance from DCSS policy update.
Review monthly items on B1-E1 board functions and responsibilities calendar - suggested to change “MAP Data Update” to “i-Ready Data Update” and change “Discipline Data” to “Dashboard Workplan Update” going forward for all B1-E1 agendas.
