Call the Meeting to Order

K. Mangual called a meeting of the board of trustees of Inwood Academy for Leadership Charter School to order on Tuesday Mar 21, 2023 at 7:11 PM.

C.

Approve Minutes

S. Mlynar made a motion to approve the minutes from February Board of Trustees Meeting on 02-28-23.
J. Looney seconded the motion.
The board VOTED to approve the motion.

II. Board Committee Reports

A.

Academic Committee Report/Alumni Report

Hoek Choi, the High School Director/Principal shared the High School graduation progress report with the board. 

  • For 2023 Cohort- Projected overall graduation projection is 91.3%
  • Credit recovery progress update:
    • Total # of Students that Completed 1+ Course(s) = 69 Students
    • 1st semester of this school year there are 59 eligible students for credit recovery
      • 14 Students- 9th grade
      • 11 Students- 10th grade
      • 16 Students- 11th grade
      • 18 Students- 12th grade 
    • 18 students have successfully recovered their credit recovery courses 

B.

CEO Report

The CEO shared updates on the Elementary School planning process. 

  • Updates regarding the Elementary School Director position was given to the board 
    • Interviews are ongoing

HR Committee

No report 

D.

Fundraising, Finance and Facilities

The COO shared the facilities and lottery update with the board

  • The pro bono work we have received resulted in a visioning document of the ideal design for the Elementary School 
    • Areas focused on were lobby and welcome center 
  • An architect has been chosen; SOM
    • They created a test fit for IAL
  • Lottery Update
    • In February we had 445 applications
    • In March we have 594 applications; as of 3/21/23 we have 637 applications
