Call the Meeting to Order

Bob Carlson called a meeting of the Governance Committee Committee of Great Oaks Charter School - Bridgeport to order on Monday May 18, 2026 at 5:05 PM.

Approve March 2026 Meeting Minutes

David Zieff made a motion to approve the minutes from GOBPT March Governance Meeting on 03-16-26.
Bob Carlson seconded the motion.
The committee VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

II. Governance Committee

COO Report

COO went over COO report.

 

RFP process that we are going to start.

 

Enrollment update: 

  • Year to Date 188 total applications across grades. We are currently full in every grade except 6th and 7th grade. 
  • 25 seats open in 6th grade and anticipate only 18 seats in 7th grade. 

D. Zief states he is proud of his affiliation with Great Oaks Charter School. Trefz organization- D. Zief states he will try reaching out to them to see if we can be given the billboard above the school for any amount of time to advertise the school.

CEO Report

CEO went over CEO report to the committee. 

 

Internal Expansion Update:

received a revised internal expansion budget which includes the permits contingency, the entry, and final total budget of 470,033 which is fairly close to our original expected. Thinking realistically with the DRIP funding and new acquisition around the security grant, we are in a good place to move forward. 

 

Teach for America- Potential partnership- They do the recruitment ,the preservice training and they provide the teacher to us. We provide coaching, salary and help with certification and monitoring their masters. 

They provide certified teacher program as they get their certification they come in with temporary certification.

A.

New business

By laws were reviewed by Board Chair, Bob Carlson. B. Carlson discussed needing an amendment to go through the board to have a larger board and add members.
