Discussed overall purpose of academic meetings.
- Data disagreggation
- Focus on sub-groups
- Proposed next steps
Jeffrey was asked about his agreement with Academic subgoal. He agreed.
Discussion continued.
Responding to learning is where this focus will be.
M. Serrano reviewed findings:
- There was a gap in Phonics instruction.
- There was some lack of fidelity to curriculum.
- Some key components iof good Tier 1 instructional practices are missing
- Low teacher retention and changes in leadership contributed to lack of knowledge continuity
B. Gutierrez discussed renewal criteria and comparison of Soleil to area schools. Soleil outperformed 8/12 schools in ELA but only 1 in math.
B. Gutierrez reviewed SBAC performance. 5th grade outperformed other grades in ELA. 3rd grade had the strongest scores in Math.
Wonderings:
- Is collaboration happening?
- Is there fidelity to curriculum in classes?
- Who are the strongest teachers?
- How do we build content experts?
We are currently in phase 2 of our plan - Data Systems

Determine success measures for phase 2.
Next Meeting will be on January 20 at 8:00 am
Team discussed whether they were in agreement with suubgoal: The Academic Committee will meet quarterly.
Present Board members were in agreement. When BM Jeffrey Noel arrives they will revisit.
