Students Eden Potter, Olivia Smith, Harper Smith, Jillian Brown and Evelyn Bowditch in Ms. Hickman's Reader's Theater talked about why they like being in afterschool theater. A short video clip was played of one of their productions. 

May was the final month for walk & talks of the 2025/2026 school year.

Chuks had the High School. He spoke with students ranging from freshmen to seniors, in standard and AP classes, how they felt about May which is notorious for it's heavy testing weeks. They said it was actually "chill" because of prior knowledge or being well prepared. Students felt adapted to become better with the more tests they took. Those in AP classes will be returning to take more AP classes next year. However, ALL students agreed, that they wanted to think about and enjoy summer first and foremost! They're excited for a long break.

Lorelai went to Hallett Elementary and talked with first and fifth graders. She said the first graders were very shy and didn't want to share as much as the fifth graders. When they were asked what they're most excited about for next year, first graders were mostly excited for summer (audience laughed) but for next year, they liked PE and wanted more challenging things in that class. Fifth grade is excited to move to the Middle School and are really looking forward to choosing electives like Spanish and art. She asked the fifth graders if they're excited for high school. They said they're not really there yet, but are a little afraid of high school PE and although most currently do sports, they're a little afraid of high school sports as well. 

Lorelai said the fifth grade student's favorite things this year were field trips, those were the BEST. They talked the most about getting to go to Shrek the Musical at the Bing Crosby Theatre and the pumpkin patch. 

Nate finished his year at Michael Anderson Elementary. He said students were very, VERY talkative. When asked their favorite parts of coming to school, first graders said lunch, recess, breakfast and library. While fifth graders said lunch, seeing friends and whenever they were challenged in class. Next he asked them what was something they would have liked to have learned. For students in first grade, it was endangered insects and animals and fifth grade it was math and history. As for what adults do to make them feel included and safe at school, for both grades it was helping them and showing that they care. Nate's last question was what they were excited for next year. First graders are excited for harder math and learning new words. Fifth graders are excited about getting to do STEM classes, jazz band and harder math, for one student, it was "everything!"

We had a three year accountability this year. That's a big one, covers a lot of ground. However it

was a good clean audit. 

We also had our annual accounting audit, which was also clean.

At the end of the audit we had a few small exit items, nothing major. We had one issue with cyber security at the beginning of the year that we caught and cleaned up, we are please to say we passed. 

As you know, we wrote and received a grant for our Early Learning Center. Our original thought was for a 4-room modular building. We've since modified that in exchange for a 2-room modular unit, a separate building will it's own bathroom with a 40 count total capacity, 20 per classroom. Currently looking to place this at the north east corner of Hallett, where the pavement meets the playground. We'll meet with code enforcement and tribal council to ensure we're not disturbing any natural habitats prior to bringing in fill. The building will be a pit-set, so it'll be ground level. We're under a bit of a crunch for the timeline to get the ball rolling by August. That means we are looking to get it ordered within the next month.

We've also asked for additional 5 slots for ECEAP at Hallett and are waiting to hear back. There are currently 10 slots. They have not said yes yet, as they are wanting to make sure we're not taking away from the current provider in town, which is the YWCA ECEAP program, and we are not. We actually partner with them, making sure to send families to them first, and they have a waiting list.
