A.

Committee Purpose and Objectives for 23-24

As a group, the committee discuss the role and purpose of the development committee for the coming year.  Due to the funds made available to the school via House Bill 1259, helping school admin prioritize and execute on capital improvements, repairs and maintenance and technology needs would be a major focus including the high school's portable classrooms and expansion project.

Additional opportunities include school marketing, enrollment and support of Foundation events and fundraising efforts.

B.

Building, Grounds & Technology Update

Per Kim Mixon and Tom Miller, the two repair and maintenance projects previously approved by the board and development committee (middle school door repair and bathroom floor) were both nearing completion at substantial savings versus what was approved.

Per Greg Latour, the new water heater that was ordered was scheduled to be completed by the first day of school

Per Carey Lewis and Tom Miller, new Chromebooks arrived and were being added to the system.

C.

New Funding Source - HB 1259

Mike Kerrigan and Tom Miller discussed HB 1259 and the funds that it makes available to the school to cover expenses related to capital purchases, technology, repairs and maintenance and other facility-related expenses.  Total amount available to Seaside School, Inc for the 2023-24 school year is approximately $433,000.

D.

Capital Expense Priority Projects for 23/24

It was agreed by the group that the prioritizing of projects whose expenses can be covered with the above-mentioned funds would be a focus of this committee going forward.  Tom Miller mentioned that he and the staff were in the process of creating a list of such projects.  Some, like expenses related to the portable classrooms at the high school, are eligible projects under the provisions of HB 1259.
