Founded in 1996
Serving Students in Grades 5 - 12

We seek to sustain an educational community where an emphasis on academic excellence is complemented by our concern for each learner’s personal growth and intellectual, aesthetic, and psychological development. The curriculum is developmentally responsive – actively engaging students in learning skills in context, integrative – directing students to connect learning to daily lives, and exploratory – enabling students to discover their abilities, interests, learning styles, and ways that they can make contributions to society.

Information on procedures for public comment can be found at https://www.seasideschools.net/domain/35.

If anyone needs special assistance to participate in the public input session, every effort will be made to provide an appropriate accommodation. When requesting accommodations for public input, please allow no less than 1 business day notice prior to the scheduled meeting.

Specific issues about a particular student should only be addressed to the school’s Director of Student Services, rather than the Board of Directors.

All public comments will be taken under advisement by the Board, but will not elicit a written or spoken response. The names of persons providing public comment and a brief summary of topics or input will be included in the meeting minutes published. A response will be provided to the stakeholder within seven (7) days.

Overall Drafted Report:

January The Seaside School Executive Director R...

Here are 10 Talking Points for today.

Dismissal Update:

1. No students are walking into Seaside Market without specific granted permission. Students are either walking to Watercolor for car pick up, walking/riding home, taking the bus or have a designated pick up at archway. Bus driver begins his “behind the wheel” training Tuesday.

Enrollment Update

2. 250+ applications so far. 108 in 5th and 51 in 9th.

 Seaside Student Enrollment 2024-2025 Scoreboard

3. Six total student withdraws this school year. School budget was $125k in the black so FTE impact is minimal

Staffing/Finance Updates

4. Salary scale approved in June…in 25/30 years our scale was above Walton. We are asking for a board vote to catch up those other five years. Three employees were impacted ($5,700 difference)

5. Triumph pre-application grant was approved by NWFSC Academic Team. I asked Liberty for a timeline to fill submission.

Development Update

6. Hosting Leadership Summit on campus 2/4-2/5. Would love board/foundation officers to participate in 2/4 dinner and leadership panel to discuss campaign, board committees and long term vision. Flyer attached.

7. Friday Speaker Series launches 1/26: In lieu of “information sessions” for the capital campaign we are developing a Friday speaker series to educate and inform students and local businesses on key workforce topics and will tie in how the SCHS Collegiate campus will close those gaps. We anticipate media, press releases and highlights of the local business leaders and school to assist with the capital campaign asks.

Academic and Planning Update

8. Starting all 2024-2025 planning for staff, schedules and curriculum

9. Annual Walton County “View” meeting went well. We were visited by five WCSD central office team members. I meet with Superintendent Hughes on 1/22.

10. Next round of academic testing is next week. We will identify the success of our intervention programs and create our new 60 days plan.

Governance

11. Handbook: Updating the handbook to include language around communicating legal charges within 48 hours to the supervisor.

12. Admissions Policy: Governance made updates to the policy. No significant changes as we are currently in the enrollment process.

Development:

13. Expansion project meeting on SCHS campus today.

14. All windows are tinted. We are purchasing drop down screens for multiple classes in the high school as the location of the window does not always accept the tint based on the lack of sunlight.

15. A list of school improvements was to be discussed at the development meeting but it was cancelled due to weather.
