Pursuant to Arizona Revised Statutes (A.R.S.) §§ 38-431.01 and 38-431.02, notice is hereby given to the members of the Governing Board and the general public that the Governing Boards for Candeo Peoria (“CP”) and Candeo North Scottsdale (“CNS”) (collectively, the “Schools”) will hold a joint meeting open to the public at the foregoing time and place. The Board may discuss and take action concerning any matter listed on the agenda and the Board reserves the right to change the order of items on the agenda, with the exception of public hearings set for a specific time. One or more members of the Board may participate in the meeting by telephonic communications.
Pursuant to A.R.S. § 38-431.03(A)(3) the Board may vote to go into Executive Session, which will not be open to the public, for legal advice concerning any item on the agenda. The Board’s attorney may appear telephonically.
Persons with a disability may request a reasonable accommodation, such as a sign language interpreter, by contacting Dr. Stephanie Musser at 623.979.6500. Requests should be made as early as possible to allow time to arrange the accommodation. This is the time for the public to comment on issues within the Governing Boards jurisdiction. Speakers will be given one minute to share their comments. State statute prohibits the Governing Board from discussing an item that is not on the agenda and Governing Board members are not permitted to discuss or take legal action on matters raised during the call to the public, unless such matters are properly noticed for discussion and legal action. At the conclusion of each public comment, Arizona law only allows the Governing Board to respond to criticism, request that staff review a matter or request that a matter be added to a future agenda. The Public is discouraged from using this portion of the Agenda to make complaints against school personnel or persons connected with the Schools. Rather, the public is encouraged to use the Schools’ internal procedures for this purpose.

|
Attached is the revised budget for Candeo – Peoria FY21. The only reason to revise budget was to take Scottsdale activity out of Peoria budget.
Summary of Changes: ADM: revised from 700 to current 100th day ADM of 579 Revenue: revised from $6,154,814 to $5,333,530 Expenses: revised from $5,319,187 to $4,296,130 Explanation of Changes: The Scottsdale budget does not need to be revised. It was pulled out last summer and already submitted to the State. The genesis of this issue is related to how the State recognizes the two charters. We did the original budget combining the Schools because we were told (by ASBCS) that since Candeo Schools, Inc. is one entity only one budget was necessary. However, upon further vetting throughout the summer it was discovered this was not correct. In working with ADE they advised that we immediately pull Scottsdale out and submit that budget ASAP to fulfill our statutory compliance requirements. We did this. However, it was not necessary to immediately revise the original combined budget (not due until May 15th) and pull out Scottsdale because we had already met our statutorial requirement of submitting a budget to the State. All that being said, from an operational standpoint the Board already reviewed (last summer) the detail of the combined budget that had both Schools separated. We have always been operating with two separate budgets for our own internal purposes. Jaci and Brad where on the original approved budget and this was rolled over. |
