The minutes from the Meeting of the Governing Board of Candeo Peoria held on April 15, 2026 will be approved by a vote of the Board.

This standing agenda item ensures rigorous oversight of academic performance across Candeo Schools, in alignment with our mission and charter commitments. The Governing Board reviews key indicators of student achievement, which may include benchmark assessments, standardized test results, intervention outcomes, and curriculum implementation effectiveness.

In addition to academic results, the Board considers the broader factors that influence student learning—such as school culture, instructional quality, professional development, and the strategic use of resources. These insights help contextualize performance data and inform decisions that support whole-school academic growth.  Additional operational metrics that function within the academic space are also included.

Discussions focus on upholding high academic standards, identifying performance trends, and strengthening instructional excellence. The Board provides strategic guidance, monitors academic progress, and holds the school accountable for student learning outcomes and academic health—ensuring continuous improvement within the framework of Candeo’s classical education model.

The CEO will provide a quarterly academic update to inform the Board on student performance, instructional priorities, and key factors impacting achievement and school culture, ensuring alignment with Candeo’s classical education model and strategic priorities.

The purpose of this agenda section is to ensure responsible financial stewardship and long-term sustainability of Candeo Schools. The Board reviews key financial reports, including budget performance, revenue and expenditure trends, cash flow, and financial projections. Discussions focus on maintaining fiscal stability, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and aligning financial decisions with the school’s strategic priorities. The Board’s role is to provide oversight, mitigate financial risks, and uphold accountability, ensuring that resources are managed effectively to support Candeo’s mission and educational excellence.

Review of the financial dashboard, annual and year-to-date budgets, balance sheet, profit and loss, and items related to internal controls of Candeo Peoria.

Per Arizona Revised Statutes (ARS) 15-905, not later than July 5 of each year or not later than the publication of notice of the public hearing and board meeting as required by this section, the governing board of each school district shall prepare and furnish to the superintendent of public instruction and the county school superintendent, unless waived by the county school superintendent, a proposed budget in an electronic format for the budget year, which shall contain the information and be in the form as provided by the department of education.  The proposed budget shall include the following:

1. The total amount of revenue from all sources that was necessary to meet the school district's budget for the current year.

2. The total amount of revenue by source that will be necessary to meet the proposed budget of the school district, excluding property taxes. The governing board shall prepare the proposed budget and a summary of the proposed budget.

The Board is required to review certain policies that are requested as part of fiscal monitoring. Each should be reviewed to ensure all information is still relevant and reflects the current practices of the school. The policies were last reviewed and approved on June 18, 2025.

Every year, once reviewed/updated/approved by the board, the policy will include the date it was reviewed and approved.

Pursuant to ARS 15-905, The Governing Board must meet at least ten days after the approved proposed budget has been posted, and before July 15, to hold a public hearing and to adopt the budget.

That meeting will be held telephonically on Wednesday, July 8th at 9:00 AM to adopt the approved annual budget for Candeo Peoria.

June 16, 2027 (to approve the proposed annual budget for the 27-28 SY)
