Call the Meeting to Order
K. Dixon called a meeting of the Academic Excellence Committee of Edison School of the Arts to order on Tuesday Feb 16, 2021 at 3:34 PM.

Adoption of the Agenda
A. Berns made a motion to approve the minutes from Academic Excellence Committee Meeting on 12-15-20.
K. Dixon seconded the motion.
The committee VOTED to approve the motion.
II. Academic Excellence
A.
Academic Report
A. Berns, Principal, presented the attached academic report. Berns, Principal, provided K. Dixon, Committee Chair, with additional background information regarding arts integration tracking, staff number, student testing proficiency goal of 80%, coaches role in teachers’ formal and informal observation/evaluations, and student 96% or higher attendance. goal. Teachers and social workers work together to contact families and report extensive student absences to the Department of Child Services.
A. Berns, Principal, and N. Tuttle, Executive Director, discussed how Edison is addressing the Opportunity Myth study and providing grade level academic material to students. Edison is using student assessment result data to form instructional plan to close the achievement gap. N. Tuttle discussed how the RELAY program has improved their leadership by learning how to create data driven instruction to evaluate teachers’ instruction. Teachers are incorporating test elements in pacing guides and exit tickets as mini assessments. Edison is preparing for the I-READ 3 test this spring.
