Edison School of the Arts Mission is to continue to be an educational and artful resource for all students, parents, community, and staff members by consistent and focused professional development, invitational practices by all, utilizing quarterly and annual reviews.  We will continue to develop our educational and arts aesthetic by expanding our arts experiences, exposure, and partnerships

Edison School of the Arts Vision is to provide an environment that promotes high academic and creative achievement through implementation of visual and performing arts course programming. We encourage students to become responsible citizens who are culturally diverse. We develop lifelong learners, appreciators, and consumers of the arts.

Call the Meeting to Order

T. Givens called a meeting of the Facilities & Safety Committee of Edison School of the Arts to order on Tuesday Feb 9, 2021 at 4:18 PM.

T. Givens made a motion to approve the agenda.

Approval of Minutes

T. Givens made a motion to approve the minutes from Facilities & Safety Committee Meeting on 12-09-20.

III. Facilities & Safety

Facilities and Safety Update

C. Jones, Director of Operations, presented the facilities and safety report. Edison returned to in person learning on February 1st. Edison is doing a hybrid of in person learning or virtual learning for students that have opted into e-learning for the 2nd semester. A. Berns, Principal, discussed, how Edison is applying COVID-19 safety protocols including social distancing during breakfast/morning arrival, lunch seating charts in cafeteria and protective guards on musical instruments.

 

There is 1 staff member that is working remote due to COVID-19 related criteria. Weekly COVID-19 positive test case reports are submitted to IPS and Indiana government gateway portal. A 2nd grade teacher tested positive for COVID-19. Another teacher is instructing their class. All their students are e-learning while the teacher is out during the quarantine period.

 

The school safety committee continues to hold monthly open office hour meetings as needed for staff to review the emergency preparedness plan. The next school safety committee meeting is Tuesday, February 16th at 7 am. Core Planning Strategies continues to work with IPS on building renovations. T. Givens, Committee Chair, requested a photo of door 9 to inquire to the contractor on installation of a camera. C. Jones, Director of Operations, will provide a photo.
