Call the Meeting to Order
D. Thompson called a meeting of the board of directors of International Academy of Flint to order on Monday Aug 19, 2024 at 5:40 PM.

Academic Update
Update given by Traci Cormier:
- Phoenix Fest was a great success.
- Back to School workshops started last week and are going well.
- Teacher retention is up from last school year.
- Enrollment is climbing and the marketing team is doing a great job.

J. Kelley made a motion to approve the minutes from IAF Annual Board Meeting on 07-15-24.

J. Sopczynski made a motion to ratify the disbursements and transfers.
M. Childress seconded the motion.

Vision Tours Agreement 24/25
J. Sopczynski made a motion to approve the contract with Vision Tours pending review and approval by Greg Meihn.
M. Childress seconded the motion.

F. Booker made a motion to approve the 24/25 school calendar update.

Curriculum Approval
J. Sopczynski made a motion to the curriculum.

New Applicant
J. Sopczynski made a motion to deny the applicant based on safety concerns for IAF's staff and students.

Legal Update
Greg Meihn provided an update via phone:
- Property acquisitions are moving slowly.
- Owner of one piece of property will only speak to a lawyer or realtor.
- Landbank has not returned any of Dan Smith's communications. It has been over a year so the process will need to be started over again.
- Greg will provide an update to the board on Friday.
- Vision Tours contract will be reviewed by Greg.
Traci Cormier: Pastor Alston talked to Traci in the past week. Working on the relationship with him to eventually acquire his properties.

CMU
Cory Merante provided an update:
- Annual Conference
- Thanks to all the IAF staff and board members that attended.
- It was nice to see a large presence from IAF.
- Rater Reliability - anyone who evaluates staff needs to take the class.
- Board Member Attendance
- Diane attended 14 out of 14 board meetings for 23/24.
- Falessia attended 13 out of 14 board meetings for 23/24.
- Experience Central will be in October
- NWEA Presentation will be at the next board meeting.
- Reauthorization Year for IAF
- Add this to the agenda for September to keep it on the radar.
- Also add Partner Solutions to September agenda.

The next regular meeting is scheduled for Monday September 16, 2024 at 5:30 p.m.
VI. Extended Public Comment
A.
Public comment on items not limited to agenda items
Traci Cormier:
- "Love Them First" is the theme for this school year at IAF. Focus is on building the relationships between staff and students so that they can be successful.
- Senior class has 58 students, biggest senior class yet. We have invited the seniors for a back to school breakfast on Thursday to start the year off right.
Chief Administrative Officer needs to be reappointed.
J. Sopczynski made a motion to appoint Jacob Sopczynski as the CAO.
M. Childress seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.
