In response to the November ballot initiative, Excel is codifying its approach to competency determinations for students, which are defined as meeting 10th grade standards in Math, ELA, and Science. Students will meet these standards by passing specific courses or their sub-separate equivalents which are aligned to the relevant standards.

 

Additionally, Excel is proposing to adopt the MCAS as a component of its local graduation requirements, with an alternative pathway for students that have significant cognitive disabilities.
