Finance

Celeste Farmer shared a financial overview with the board.  The current CMO fee is not sufficient to cover fixed expenses of the CMO based on current scholar population. The deck is linked with the board materials on Board on Track.

3,100 is our budgeted scholar population for SY23-24.

The full board has requested to review the academic metrics that are shared in the Academic Excellence committee. The board also requested that staffing should be part of our contingency planning, so we are prepared in the event we cannot find enough quality teachers and leaders.

The board would like leadership to consider over enrolling in some grades, if other grades are under-enrolled, to offset the total deficit. And example would be to run blended grades, such as K-2.

Board Chair Danielle Eisenberg read a resolution aloud, which is for a one time payment from school reserves to Breakthrough Public Schools. Distributions per school are based on % of total equity in the network that is at each school. The requested amount falls within the 20% of total revenue limit that schools are permitted to pay to a CMO, and all schools still have reserves.

L. Zucca made a motion to Approve the one time payment from school reserves to BPS.
C. Tancer seconded the motion.
The board VOTED to approve the motion.
C. Tancer made a motion to Adjourn the meeting.
L. Zucca seconded the motion.
The board VOTED to approve the motion.
