Review of Governance Mission Statement
- Statement and Charter Review: The committee discussed the current statement and requested a comprehensive review of the committee charter and other board documents. This update aims to ensure that ongoing work accurately reflects the current organizational context.
- Governance Frameworks: The Governance Committee's role includes developing operational frameworks intended to serve as a model for other board committees.
- Next Steps: Additional information regarding this initiative will be shared during the upcoming discussion item concerning the Phase II work led by Dr. Youngblood and the team.

Phase II Board Development Work
Board Development & Phase II Update
Dr. Joseph Youngblood II provided an update on the Board Development project and Phase II initiatives, which feature targeted support for the Governance Committee. Scheduled for implementation this year, this intentional, phased process will address the following areas:
- Board assessment work
- Board succession planning
- Toolkits and board onboarding
- Committee charters

Governance Meeting Overview & Cadence
The group reviewed the schedule for Tuesday morning meetings prior to board meetings. The next meeting is scheduled virtually for October 13 at 8:30 a.m. The group added another virtual meeting to the schedule for November 10 at 8:30 a.m.
