Alicia previewed upcoming date with OEI for charter renewal. She would share specific dates/times we will need board to participate & be present.
PATH also has HHM celebration this Thursday, 5:30-7:30 at the school.
Lynnea also previewed how IPEC impacts IPS & the existing school communities. Community currently hearing comments for a possible referendum. If a referendum does not pass, IPS may be looking at state takeover. Taxpayers have voiced they do not want tax dollars going to charter schools. Also previewed Single School Performance Framework.
IPS will need to look at unloading $40 million in expenses. IPS is exploring terminating contracts with innovation/charter schools. This would impact several resources & supports that IPS presently provides. PATH is an innovation network/charter school -- they exist in a free IPS building, but pay for student materials, school resources, teacher salaries, and so on. Potential options are they may offer to sell us our currently building and PATH incurs the cost of maintaining the building moving forward.
PATH is preparing to take on additional responsibilities of owning the building if needed. PATH presently has the cash on hand and enrollment to support this potential change. ED emphasized that these decisions will not be made without the board's involvement. Alicia named a potential challenge that these changes will potentially introduce is transportation, we may need someone to support PATH with marketing and promoting the education, services and extracurriculars available at PATH. Historically, PATH has not needed support with enrollment but policy changes diminished enrollment this school year. PATH is also transitioning to operating under their own PowerSchool and no longer utilizing IPS' PowerSchool (this would allow PATH to own comms and engagement with their students & families rather than relying on a third party).
Previewed components of our FY27 Budget. Budget is $8.6 million. Elementary education line item is $4.6 million. Office of Principal line item is $2.9 million.
