Executive Director's Update

Heidi Jones will be new tk-6 director for 2024-2025 school year and Yanelli Cevallos will be in charge of 7-8th grade. There is conversation regarding expanding Mission Prep to tk-12, will serious review beginning 2026-2027. Need to break up I-Ready, NWEA and SBAAC testing rather than having all proctored in May.

B.

Review academic dashboard & indicators

Review of I-Ready data for spring 2024: high participation rate across grades and special populations, 10% jump in math performance from fall to spring with fewer students testing multiple levels below grade level, highest gains in elementary school grades. Team is concerned with lower I-Ready performance from midyear to end of year.

C.

Plan academic goals for upcoming school year

Three instructional priorities were positive classroom culture and relationships, access to grade level content, and cross-curricular literacy development. Have found that there is need to focus more intentionally on goals 1 and 2 through the remainder of the school year. Goal 1 gains- dance/music enrichment has been really successful, more middle to elementary classroom interactions, 2nd annual high school fair, career day, science fair. Goal 2 gains- Step Up will be offering free summer tutoring for 3-6th grade, teacher foundational skill instruction rating has doubled over the year from 31% to 67%, 3-8th grade implementation of "Do Now" across all classrooms and RACE writing strategy. For 2024-2024 goals: additional training for novice students on classroom management, assessment and working with diverse needs, as well as teacher wellness. Potential implementation of Lexia Learning Systems to assist with SPED and ELL learner outcomes. Considering new ELA curriculum for 7-8th grade, Amplify ELA (great digital formatting and high differentiation between student skills) and EL Education (more pen and paper focus, chosen by SFUSD).
