Introducing project-based learning roll out in middle school- create a sustainable city and include mapping, budgeting, etc. to connect learning to math/science and ELA. Shifting from complex text for quarter 1 and 2 to foundational skills and the science of reading. Teacher Peer Learning Communities (PLC) recently did self assessment around foundational skill teaching. For middle school, five cohorts identified for foundational skills sessions three days a week across grade levels (students identified based on MAP test). Additional roll out of cross curricular activities with older and younger students collaborating on reading and kinetic math/science activities. New school partnership with Tradicion Peruana Cultural Center which provides dance space for afternoon 3-8th grade, as well as Capoeira Arts and Culture Program which comes and works with TK-2. Tracking of where 8th graders are applying to transition to high school and preparing celebrations and activities for them. 40 students reclassified to fluent English proficient (ELPAC score of 4).
