III. Academic Data - SBAC SY23

A.

Analysis of academic data SBAC

Review of data presented to Academic Committee. Mission Prep is rating higher than similar schools in the area in terms of SBAC data. MP population of students in special education has increased 20% and students who qualify for free and reduced lunch has increased 12% (86% of the total MP population). I-ready data shows over 95% of population has tested this winter 2023. Nearly half of students are meeting their growth targets; 8th grade data is skewed. Special education teachers serving about 19 students each and will be joining the Foundations of Reading workshops to increase capacity.

IV. Finance

A.

Financial Updates

Less than 1% deficit in operating costs- much of this covered by grants. General reserve continues to be strong and there was additional revenue from the state, however we expect one-time funding programs to sunset, which will decrease overall revenue. Increased staff benefits, costs of services, and increase in number of students in special education impacted budget. Looking forward, MP will be applying for additional SELPA (special education) funding as well as the Community School Implementation grant. MP will also have to plan for the 68 billion deficit at the state level which will affect school funding.

B.

First Interim

D. Monte made a motion to Approve first interim.
C. Craig-Chardon seconded the motion.
The board VOTED to approve the motion.
