Notice is hereby given that the Board of Directors of Carolina Charter Academy will hold its regular monthly open meeting on the 2nd Wednesday unless a holiday at 7:00pm. The regular monthly open meetings will be virtual unless otherwise announced.
The purpose of this meeting is to conduct the business of the Board, receive reports, discuss matters affecting the school, and take action on agenda items as appropriate. This meeting is open to the public in accordance with applicable state law and the Board's bylaws.
Members of the public are welcome to attend. Opportunities for public comment will be provided in accordance with the Board's bylaws. The Board may enter into a closed session only as permitted by applicable law to discuss matters authorized for confidential deliberation.
This agenda is subject to revision as permitted by law. Supporting materials for agenda items are available upon request in accordance with the school's public records policies and applicable legal requirements.

II. Officer Reports
A.
Chair's Report
The Chair reported that the Board had formally adopted CCA’s 2026–2029 Strategic Plan. The six priorities are middle school expansion and school growth; systems of support for students and staff; external communication; Board intentionality, effectiveness, and connection; school culture and staff well-being; and internal communication.
Dr. Branch reported that four goal-manager launch meetings had been completed. The Goal 4 meeting remained to be scheduled, and Goal 6 planning would follow additional work on Goal 3. School leadership was identifying staff participants for the implementation teams.
The Chair also reviewed the new administrative structure consisting of a superintendent, principal, and two assistant principals.
B.
Secretary's Report
Alisa Smith announced the transition of the Secretary role to Mo Khan and her move to Vice Chair.
C.
Treasurer's Report
Kristin Shalkowski reviewed the July financial report. The school was awaiting the release of certain state funds. No action was taken on the Treasurer’s Report.
III. Administration Report
A.
School Report
Principal Alison Moore reported current enrollment of 810 students against a projection of 840, with enrollment offers continuing during the first 20 school days. Eighth grade was the only grade without a waitlist.
Mrs. Sturgill was selected as CCA’s 2026–2027 Outstanding Elementary Mathematics Teacher by NCCTM and NCDPI.
The School Improvement Team had been selected and would hold its first meeting on September 18, 2026.
Kennebec Baptist Church supported CCA through a school-supply drive and open-house volunteers.
Staff were evaluating two buses, with the goal of restoring the Jack Marley stop by
