Call the Meeting to Order

R. Hunt called a meeting of the board of directors of Carolina Charter Academy to order on Wednesday Apr 8, 2026 at 7:04 PM.

Approve Minutes

K. Shalkowski made a motion to approve the minutes from CCA Monthly Open Session Board Meeting on 03-11-26.
C. Fracchiolla seconded the motion.
The board VOTED to approve the motion.

II. Officer Reports

A.

Chair's Report

-Communication went out that Dr. Warren will be leaving for family reason.  Will remain with us for the rest of the semester and help transition.

-The board will meet in closed session to discuss and plan for next steps.

Secretary's Report

Treasurer's Report

-Prestige, Finance Committee, and Dr. Warren will be attending a pre-planning meeting on Friday.

-Email was shared with the board regarding the Capital Needs Assessment that is needed for Bond.

-Will discuss which we would like in closed session.

-March statement coming Friday.  

-Middle school progress update, beginning with signing a realtor

III. Administration Report

A.

School Report

-Ms. Weaver and Ms. DiLuciano shared the report in preparation for transition.

-Enrollment numbers maintain (795 currently, projected at 840 for fall)

-Celebrations:  Ms. Sims invited a Representative to visit, Field trips, Junior Beta (8450 hours served), Drama Club set building, Shoutout to teachers for top proficient classes, Teachers got the Duck out of the school for Spring Break and shared pictures with their duck all around vacation spots

-Professional Development:  Seminar day at school, teachers presented seminars to staff that they created and planned for staff members to choose to attend

-School tours are happening

-Kindergarten Royal Ball took place

-Flocabulary has been utilized across the school

-First year of Elementary Beta was a huge success!

-Celebrations:  Academic progress noted, Teacher celebrations

-Look out for Parent Technology Survey coming soon

-SIT Updates 

-Partnerships Updates - Ms. Hilderbrant working on Backpack Buddies Program for summer, Meeting with Kennebec Baptist soon to partner more

-Athletic Update - Girls soccer and Baseball have had strong turn out

-Lots of April Events coming up

-NC Check In Data:  Not fully finished, Reading shows strong momentum, Science is the strongest subject area, Math is more varable, placing additional focus on math through instruction and intervention

 

HR/Finance Update - Due to spring break finance report is a little delayed, hope to have them by Friday, Next year teacher contractions are beginning soon, Bingham Arbirtage should finalize report by end of April for sharing and approval

Vote on Business from Closed Session

K. Shalkowski made a motion to Approve the Capital Needs Assessment firm discussed in closed session.
A. Smith seconded the motion.
The board VOTED to approve the motion.

B.

Adjourn Meeting

There being no further business to be transacted, and upon motion duly made, seconded and approved, the meeting was adjourned at 8:00 PM.
