The Board of Directors approved the Hogan Preparatory Academy 2020-2021 calendar at the April 27, 2020, meeting. At that time, it was our goal to meet DESE requirements while also trying to align closely with the calendar of the Kansas City Public Schools, since many of our families have children in that district as well.
As a result of COVID-19, things are changing daily, and there has been a recommendation from city officials to consider moving the start date back until after Labor Day. We know that other area schools are considering that option as well. The administration of Hogan Preparatory Academy is requesting flexibility to make a calendar change if this is needed to meet our need to pivot quickly as our return to school plans change. The ability to change our calendar might come before the next Board of Directors meeting on August 24th, so we are asking in advance for the Board's approval to allow the administration this flexibility.
