  A. Board Policies and Procedures review

As a quick reminder, the current Hogan Preparatory Academy Board policies have not undergone a formal review for more than 10 years. We have policies which are outdated, have fallen out of line with best practices, or simply do not exist. For the balance of this fiscal year, the Board will be reviewing revised policies with the objective of bringing us into compliance and up to date. These new policies will follow best practices as outlined by Missouri Consultants for Education (MCE) or the Missouri Charter Public School Association (MCPSA).
For April, we are asking the Board to review:
  • Section 3: Student Services
  B. Paid Time Off (PTO)
  C. Revision of Graduation Requirements for 2020 class only

Review and approve revision  of graduation requirements for this year's graduating class
  D. Approval of 2020-2021 Calendar

The recommended school calendar for 2020-2021 aligns closely with Kansas City Public Schools approved calendar.  This assists families that have students at Hogan as well as in KCPS.  It also allows Hogan to partner with KCPS more easily if calendars align.  This calendar starts later than in past years as the state passed legislation in the form of 171.031.2 RSMo that directs a district may not set their opening date earlier than fourteen calendar days prior to the first Monday in September.
