M. Norman called a meeting of the PTO Committee of Arco Iris Spanish Immersion School to order on Wednesday May 7, 2025 at 7:05 PM.

Approve Minutes

Motion to approve the minutes from PTO Meeting on 04-02-25.
The committee VOTED to approve the motion.

II. PTO

A.

Board Report

Christa Billings attended to give a Board update.  We officially submitted our charter application to the District for our school expansion today.  Hoping to have an additional school in two years.  We submitted a SIA grant this month.  Thanks to all who attended meetings and filled out surveys for these funds.  We will be using them for a school counselor and educational assistants.  School Board meeting tomorrow, May 8.  Approved the budget for next year.  Board elections will be tomorrow.

Monday, May 26 for Memorial Day.

M. Norman made a motion to Approve PTO officers for next year as listed.
The committee VOTED to approve the motion.

Fundraising

We are still looking for fundraising party hosts.  They are a lot of fun.  As a host, you can pick the theme or what to do at the party.  The school facilitates ticket sales.  All money from ticket sales goes back to the school.  Even if you can only host or want to host but need a space, go ahead and sign up.  We will match volunteers to make sure that we can have great parties at great locations.  Sign up here:  https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfgmI1jTvVhVES9Y5bCJf6St29eSaXhvcu8XYBjh1mFL0mukw/viewform?usp=sharing 

April restaurant night at Mod Pizza raised $380.60.  May restaurant night will be at Panda Express on Thursday, May 22.  It is online only, all-day event.

Staff Appreciation

Director Day was last week.  Teacher appreciation is this week.  Teachers got 808Grinds for lunch today.  Tomorrow students can wear their teacher's favorite color.  

F.

Bike/Roll to School Week

This week is Bike/Roll to school week.  On Friday, May 9, if you want to participate, meet at 99 Ranch at 8:05am to walk/roll together to school.  We will leave at 8:10am and use the trail to go around the back way past Fanno Farmhouse to school.  Please make sure each child has a responsible adult watching them, even if you have to coordinate with another parent.

End of Year Celebrations

End of Year parties are on May 30.  Look for emails from room parents on how to be involved either by volunteering or donating items.

H.

Field Day

Will be on May 30.  All classes for each grade will have the same time.  Look for volunteer positions to be posted for VicNet soon.

End of Year Promotion Ceremonies

Kinder promotions are June 4

Maestro Jordi --- 9:30am – 10:30am
Maestra Concepcion --- 11am – 12pm
Maestra Angie --- 1pm – 2pm

Fifth grade promotion is June 5, 9:30-11am

Look for tickets to each promotion to come home with students at some point.

Library Announcements

The end of the year is quickly approaching! Please make sure you have your student return all books to the library before the end of the year!  Volunteers are doing library inventory on May 27, so please return books before then.

Art Lit

We had 5 art lit projects this year.  The team did a great job getting these projects to the classes.  

L.

Uniform Exchange/Lost and Found

Lots of uniforms are coming in now.  We will do a collection event the last couple days of school, probably on Stratus, to get any uniforms you are done with.  Uniforms will be taken to summer playdates for families to peruse and take home.

Please look through the lost and found in the school lobby.  Items will be donated at the end of the year.

Announcements

Next PTO meeting will be Wednesday, June 4 at 7pm.  

Cub Scout pack 685 is having a join night on May 20.  It is open to boys and girls and has many Arco Iris families already in the pack.  Come see if you would like more information.

The PTO Board has one open position.  Reach out if you are interested.  

For a school project, Christa Billings' daughter will be installing a bilingual little library at the school.
