Fundraising

Thanks to everyone who came out for our Red Robin Restaurant Night last month! It was great to see so many people enjoying their dinner out and/or picking up take-out orders! Together we raised a total of $363.27 for our school! Way to go Arco families! We really appreciate your continued support at these events!
February’s restaurant night is coming up next week on Wednesday, February 12th . This month we will be back at Panda Express for another nationwide fundraising event!! This is an online only event so please go to www.pandaexpress.com or use the Panda Express App to place your order and apply code 9001419 in the Fundraiser Code box during checkout.

Our next Bottle Drop pickup will be Wednesday, February 12th. Please look for the Bottle Drop Team on Straus after pickup to collect your bottle drop bags. Please pick up the “Blue Bottle Drop” bags in the office lobby if you need more before the Super Bowl this weekend! Special events like this are a great time to collect extra bottles and cans especially if you’re having family and friends over to watch the game with you! You can fill the bags with any eligible bottles or cans that have the “OR 10” code on them. Please DO NOT drop off filled bags at the office.

Kindness Week

Next week Arco will be celebrating Kindness Week and encouraging students, staff, and families to conduct Random Acts of Kindness (RAKs) as they go about their day! Open the door for a stranger, give someone a compliment, buy a friend a cup of coffee! Random Acts of Kindness don’t have to be big or expensive… the goal is to do small things to show kindness to your friends and family, as well as everyone you encounter, throughout the day!
We’ll be sending home materials with the students to encourage and give examples of how everyone can participate in Kindness Week!
We’ll also be holding a food drive with Sunshine Division Food Pantry. A list of requested food items will be sent home with your student and we will be collecting items during pickup and drop off next week. Please consider donating what you can to help those in need!

Friendship Day Celebrations

Friendship Day Celebrations will be on Friday, February 14th . Classrooms are asking for donations for decorations, craft supplies, and snacks. Details for requested items for each class can be found on VicNet! As well as opportunities to volunteer in the classroom during the celebrations!
These parties are so much fun for the kids and they can’t happen without your generous support!
Kids can bring in small Friendship Day Cards for the celebration on the 14th . It is totally optional if you and your child want to participate in this card exchange! If you do bring in cards you must bring in one for every child in the class. Teachers of our younger students often request that only the “From” section of the card is filled out and not the “To” section as this helps speed up the process of handing out cards in these younger grades! Please remember that no food items can be included in the card exchange! Thanks for helping keep our kids safe!
Remember to log your volunteer hours for donations!! If you purchase any requested item (decorations, snacks, craft supplies) you can log 1 volunteer hour for every $10 you spent!

Staff Appreciation

School Counselor Day was Monday, February 3rd. The Staff Appreciation Team organized a poster and gift bag for our wonderful counselor Luis! Make sure you let Luis know how much you appreciate all he does for our students the next time you see him!

February’s Stock the Break Room was yesterday, February 4th for Kinder families. Thanks to everyone who donated items! The staff truly appreciates having these items on hand to snack on during the day!! March’s Stock the Break Room will be Tuesday, March 4th for 3rd/4th/5th grade families.

Please consider checking VicNet for a list of snacks and donating a requested item! The Staff Appreciation Team will be in the parking lot as you exit pick-up on the 4th to collect your donations. Remember to log your volunteer hours for your Stock the Break Room donations!! Every $10 = 1 volunteer hour!

H.

Art Lit

Our fourth Art Literacy project will begin later in the month where the students will be learning about the work of Marc Chagall. Spots for parent volunteers to come in and help with your child’s class with these projects have already been posted! Please check VicNet to see if there are any openings in your child’s class and sign-up!! Please remember that you do not need to be an artist yourself to volunteer! The Art Lit team sets everything up for you and provides detailed lesson plans and project guidance! It really is a super fun way to volunteer in your child’s classroom!

Spirit Wear

This year we’re offering a second opportunity to order spirit-wear items! This is a great opportunity to add sweatshirts or long-sleeved items for your students during the cold winter months! Or update sizes for your growing students! The online store is open now and will close this Friday, February 7th. You can place your orders using the link below!

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer Coordinators Needed - We’re looking to add 2 Volunteer Coordinators to our leadership team. Please reach out to PTO@arcoirisschool.org if you are interested or have any questions. Our goal is to have these two positions voted in and filled ASAP.

Our Silent Dance Party is coming up! Hopefully March 17th and 18th… but we’ll keep you posted on the date! Opportunities to volunteer and help with this will be posted on VicNet so keep an eye out for those! We’ll need people to help decorate the gym the weekend before and volunteer during the days of the Silent Dance Party!

Reminder: Register for VicNet if you haven’t already done so! There are many ways to volunteer at Arco and they will all be posted on VicNet so make sure you’re registered! Upcoming opportunities include: providing supplies and decorations for your class, volunteering to help with Art Lit projects, volunteers for Friendship Day Celebrations, library visit volunteers and more!

If you have any questions about VicNet or if you want to get more involved with one of our teams reach out to the volunteer coordinators at volunteer@arcoirisschool.org. --- Please also reach out if you are not seeing volunteer opportunities for your child’s class so you don’t miss out on anything!
