Sarah provided the Board report.  The Board is busy working on grants.  They are planning to use the money for new Spanish and English curriculum.  We are working with a company who helps charter schools with grants and getting free money to use.    Open enrollment is happening now.  Open invitation to attend Board meetings.

School is closed February 19.

Coffee with the Director is this Friday, Feb 9 at 8:35 in room 113.  Enter thru the back of the school.  This will be an open discussion time.

Red Robin raised $460.14 at at one point there was a 2 hour wait.  It was the biggest restaurant night they have had before.

Most percent we have gotten before.   April is nation wide Panda Express online order and 28% back to school. March papa Murphy’s TBD. May mod pizza near whole food and they have a patio! 

Next bottle drop collection will be in April.  You can turn in blue bags to any bottle drop location at any time.

National School Counseling Week Feb 5-9.  Team made a poster for Luis and gave him a goodly basket.  

Kinder stock the breakroom was today and it went great.  Next month is 5th and 8th grade.

Please volunteer and show up for your shift! If you don’t show up Library Day may need to be shut down and the kids must wait another 2 weeks to have a library day.

Please show up for your shift. Library is subject to close of volunteers don’t show up for scheduled shifts. 

Please look for lost books at home. Our library is by donation only and it’s important to care for our books as much as we can. We have a zero library budget. We take donations. Please make sure they are in good shape and check with library staff if we already have multiple copies on the shelf. Looking for more books in Spanish more than anything else. 

Meeting on Tuesday to get 1-2 projects done for this year.  Look for sign ups on Vicnet.

No food of any kind (candy included) and you must bring one for all students in the class not just for friends. You can fill them out per child or just send in the amount of students in the class.

National random acts of kindness week. AI first year participating. Getting parents and students involved by doing random acts of kindness. Packets will be sent home. We are making a wall to showcase the students acts in the front of the school. We are also collecting non perishable foods to donate and earn a free dress day. Still working on a school goal. Thinking 1-2 bins of food. 

• Working on getting PJ day scheduled for whole school.
• Top students per grade photos with JJ date (probably in Spring when weather is better)
• Silly String Jesús and Perla sometime in Spring for top 25 students 
• Top Grade: Kinder will get to choose approved Spirit Week type day
• Date for Maestra Lagarde’s class to get a celebration for top class with most raised will be chosen

Will have raffles, online auction, live auction, special appeal and gathering in person at Portland Golf Club on Saturday, April 13 for our live auction!

Coming soon! Live auction and silent auction fun. Also, they are doing a contest. It’s a contribution of $10 and class with the most participation gets a prize. 

Contest: 

All families are asked to make a cash donation to help underwrite the auction expenses. The classroom with the highest participation percentage of $10+ donations will receive a special reward such as a pizza party or some other fun treat.  

Tickets: Tickets are on sale!  Arco sells tables or individual tickets. You and your seven guests will enjoy a reserved table at the annual Arco Iris Spanish Immersion School auction on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the beautiful Portland Golf Club. Each guest will receive a hosted dinner and wine for the evening.

Coming up. Important to have tours to let parents see what our school is about. Safely is being taken seriously. Small groups of 10 or less by invite only from previous sign ups for the informational meetings. This will be done by admin only.
