Call the Meeting to Order

E. Hatch called a meeting of the Development Committee of Arco Iris Spanish Immersion School to order on Thursday Oct 5, 2023 at 6:35 PM.

Approve Minutes: June 22nd

S. Zephirin made a motion to approve the minutes from Development Committee Meeting on 06-22-23.
C. Billings seconded the motion.
The committee VOTED to approve the motion.

II. Development

A.

Fundraising Gap and Goals

  • Erin has been attending meetings with Charter School Capital. Their contract with us ends at the end of October.  May keep them on for some specific tasks.
  • Reviewed new fundraising webpage and goals:  https://www.arcoirisschool.org/apps/pages/fundraising
    • Gap donation language has been updated to "Community Giving"
  • Already raised $12,000 out of $65,000 for the move-a-thon.  Registration just opened this week.

B.

Grants

 

  • Board approved Christa to move forward with hiring FundEd to support with grant writing.  Plan is for school to meet twice per month with them during the process.  They may also have a rep attend our Development Committee meetings
  • Grant Hub Subscription---still in place and we will work with FundEd to determine if we use this moving forward
  • Grant updates
    • No word back on fence application
    • Jesus made contact with Dance Azteca re: the RACC grant.  Sarah Z still trying to add him to the reporting portal.  
    • Erin to check in with Michelle on the Marie Lanform grant reporting needs
  • New grant opportunities
    • Leslie shared info on a potential grant opportunity through an Arco parent's employer.  Leslie sent info the committee to review.
    • Elise sent info on the Washington County Community Cultural Participation Grants, due October 20th.
      • Team agreed to consider this for next year since we are still working to spend the money for the RACC grant
    • Adidas Grant--posted by a parent.  For playground equipment

C.

Community Relations/PR

  • Preschool Outreach---good to do outreach now ahead of open enrollment
    • Charter School Capital drafted a preschool outreach letter.
    • Little Einstein's Preschool is interested in working with us. They recently moved to a location closer to Arco. Jessica made contact.
    • Los Amiguitos has reached out in the past
  • Would be helpful to research any school fairs we can join
  • Erin shared a preschool outreach spreadsheet with the committee.  Please add any new schools or known school fairs to the list.

  • Next meeting on November 9th
  • Sarah to make sure Elise and Jesus are invited to next meeting
  • Sarah to add Preschool Outreach to next Board meeting agenda
  • Committee members to work on adding preschools and job fairs to spreadsheet
  • Erin to follow up with Michelle on Marie Lanform grant reporting
