Bottle Drop
- Bags are in the lobby and you can turn them in to any bottle drop collection location.
- You can fill the bags with any eligible bottles or cans that have the “OR 10” code on them.
- Please DO NOT drop off filled bags at the office.
- Volunteer Opportunity: We need someone to take over as Bottle Drop Coordinator. This requires minimal hours. You just need to make sure that there are extra bags in the school lobby and refill the bin if it ever runs out of bags. There are bonus events twice a year that we need to sign up for online. We have flyers for these events that need to be shared on Parentsquare and the newsletter, we already have the flyers you just need to update the dates. reach out to the PTO: pto@arcoirisschool.org if you are interested in helping with this.

PTO Transition and Changes
How did we get here?
- PTO has always relied on the kindness of ppl with flex schedules who are willing to sacrifice = burnout.
- Absence of a president in training and term limits can feel daunting to new folks.
- Currently, there are 1 President, 1 Former President here to advise, and 3 Vice Presidents.
- Past couple years there have been a lot of changes internally within PTO. Structurally we need to think about how this looks going forward.
How do we move forward?
- If no one person can do the heavy lifting, how do we redistribute the weight?
- Spring 2026 focus - organizing detailed procedures for putting on events.
- Work with admin to simplify school policies around event organization and PTO communication
- Work with team leaders and Arco Iris community to ensure that no one team depends solely on one person for its continued existence.
Continuing Conversations
- Community interest and involvement (what would people truly like to see and who takes leadership?
- Explore Arco Iris events and meetups at other locations
- Support community members in extending their own grade level/class/community initiations outside of Arco Iris.
- Thank you to all of our volunteers for all that you do! We all want vibrant community life at Arco Iris!!

VicNet Registration
- The school uses the VicNet/Volgistics platform for all volunteer opportunities throughout the year so please make sure you are signed up.
- New families make sure you’ve completed the Volgistics Volunteer application form and complete the background check. The background check will be sent to you a few days after your application was submitted. This will come from Verified First so make sure you’re looking for that message.
- Current families please make sure you fill out the updated volunteer expectation form if you haven’t already so you’re able to volunteer. Openings won’t appear on VicNet until you have completed this.
- It’s important to sign up for an account even if you’re not planning to come in as sometimes opportunities pop up that you are able to help with and it’s important to have this done before hand as the verification process can take up to a few weeks to complete and we don’t want you to miss out on anything.
- Many teachers allow parents to come in as a “Mystery Reader” for their child’s birthday. You WILL need to be registered on VicNet and have completed the background check to participate in this!!
