Fundraising

Restaurant Nights

  • September Restaurant Night – MOD Pizza
    • Thanks to everyone who came out for our MOD September restaurant night. Together we raised $372.15!
  • October Restaurant Night – Monday, October 27th at Red Robin, Washington Square Mall Location. Fundraiser goes all day, but this is a location specific Fundraiser.

MOVE-A-THON

  • Move-a-thon is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year and will be held from October 6th -17th! Get ready for a good time! We are hoping for 100% participation this year! Goal is $70,000 in just two weeks.
  • Kids get a "Free Dress Day" if we hit 75% registration - no donations required!
  • Each student participates in the move-a-thon during their individual PE class. Each class moves freely between stations after participating in the Move-a-Thon Dance Video.
  • Typically, there is a Flexibility and Balance station, a Cardio station, a Strength station, a Recreation station, and a Rest and Water station.
    • Examples include Tic Tac Toe Relay and short and long jumping rope for the cardio station and an activity station in which they can do leg hops, side shuffle, high knees and more.
    • The strength station includes reps of squats, push-ups, sit-ups, plank, and lunges.
    • For Flexibility and Balance they participate in the Move-A-Thon Dance Video on the poly spots on one half of the gym. On the other half, there are stretching and yoga poses that can be done on yoga mats. Students rotate through each set of poses.
    • As for Recreation, students take turns playing 4 square, bowling, life-size tic-tac-toe, Jenga and connect 4.
    • Rest/Water - students can move in and out of this area as needed to get their water bottles.
  • We will be asking for volunteers to sign up to help during the move-a-thon stations so please keep your eyes open as we will be posting these on VicNet as soon as possible.
  • As we’ve mentioned before, charter schools are publicly funded but we do not receive the same level of support as regular public schools. Arco Iris receives 85% of the per pupil funding allocated by the state and we must make up the remaining 15% through fundraising. In addition, charter schools like ours are required to cover expenses that traditional public schools do not, such as technology services, rent/mortgage payments, electricity costs, etc. As a result, we operate with a considerable budget shortfall per student.
  • Last year our move-a-thon raised about $90,000 for our school. Our fundraising target for the school year is $1000 per student. We have over 400 students at Arco this year so we are hoping to raise over $400,000 dollars during the school year and donations from the Move-a-thon are a great way to start!!

  • Spirit Week will be October 13th – 17th.
    • Monday – Future Career Day
    • Tuesday – Silly Socks Day (with school uniform)
    • Wednesday – Hat/Hair Accessory Day
    • Thursday – Favorite Cat Day (Global Cat Day)
    • Friday – Sports Day

Bottle Drop: TBD

  • Please pick up the “Blue Bottle Drop” bags in the office lobby. We don’t have a date scheduled yet but there will be a collection day during the bonus period in November.
  • You can fill the bags with any eligible bottles or cans that have the “OR 10” code on them.

  • Coffee with the Director will be held on the 14th – the second Friday of the month in November due to a No School Day the week before.
  • Reminder, this year there will be just one session each month with bilingual resources available.
  • This is a great way to get to know the admins, meet other Arco families and learn more about the school.
  • We hope to see you there! We will meet in the gym. Please enter through the gym doors at the back of the building and be mindful of drop-off traffic.

K.

VicNet Registration

  • The school uses the VicNet/Volgistics platform for all volunteer opportunities throughout the year so please make sure you are signed up.
  • There are other opportunities for volunteering does not require a background check if you are unable to volunteer in the school.
  • Arco Iris asks for $1,000 donation per family - MOVE-A-THON does count toward your financial contribution! Corporate matches count!
  • New families make sure you’ve completed the Volgistics Volunteer application form and complete the background check. The background check will be sent to you a few days after your application was submitted. This will come from Verified First so make sure you’re looking for that message.
  • Current families please make sure you fill out the updated volunteer expectation form if you haven’t already so you’re able to volunteer. Openings won’t appear on VicNet until you have completed this.
  • It’s important to sign up for an account even if you’re not planning to come in as sometimes opportunities pop up that you are able to help with and it’s important to have this done before hand as the verification process can take up to a few weeks to complete and we don’t want you to miss out on anything.
  • Many teachers allow parents to come in as a “Mystery Reader” for their child’s birthday. You WILL need to be registered on VicNet and have completed the background check to participate in this!!
  • Volunteer spots for the Move-a-thon on Friday, October 17th will be posted soon! Be on the lookout for those and sign up before they fill up! We need lots of parent volunteers to support and cheer on the kids throughout the day!
