Review Committee Goals

The improvement plan was reviewed and discussed.

The initial plan for summer PD was discussed. Ms. Martin shared that she is in communication with vendors to get them in.

A plan for reteaching the science of reading and foundational skills is going to be part of the training.

Ms. Murray discussed several initiatives related to tiered coaching and the Pillar Playbook that will be rolled out at the Athlos Network level.

Mr. McCoy asked about preparation for LEAP. Ms. Martin shared that student behavior around LEAP testing is a priority, and groups are set up accordingly. Kavion will be coming as the state monitoring. We do have some rooms where we have proctors.  Schedules have been created to test 750 students in rooms.  Some grade levels are out at field trips.

End of the year, I-Ready will still be done.

Mr. McCoy asked if attendance drops off after LEAP, and Ms. Martin replied no.

The school is participating in field testing.

Mr. McCoy shared that they do a 90-minute early release on testing days to support behavior.  They end with a "rah-rah" each day.

Mr. Boutte asked what grade levels need the most support in reading. Ms. Martin responded that all of them need support in some way.

Mr. Boutte asked about new teachers and training on how to teach kids to read. When is that occurring? Ms. Martin responded that it will be ongoing. All, but two participated in the science of reading.

Mr. Boutte asked about summer camp for reading. Ms. Martin responded that summer school has always been around remediation and some enrichment. Once we determine the required third graders, we can see who else can participate. It is a dream to provide more enrichment opportunities, but now, we are focused on enrichment.

Mr. Boutte asked about other available summer programs. Ms. Martin responded that those are shared through flyers and newsletters.

In May - Can we get ELP and LEAP Connect data?
