Call the Meeting to Order
J. Washington called a meeting of the Governance Committee Committee of Athlos Jefferson Parish to order on Monday Dec 15, 2025 at 5:46 PM.
II. Governance Committee
A.
Review draft revisions to the policies in the set of discipline policies.
B.
Review edits to the draft Gifted & Talented Policy
Bill reviewed the edits to the Gifted and Talented policy since the last meeting primarily around the time of day for service minutes. The committee found the edits to be sufficient and had no further edits. They recommended the policy move to the January board meeting for a vote.

Sarah reviewed the edits since the last meeting primarily in the sections of restorative discipline, searches, and cell phones. The committee provided feedback and suggested edits to the draft.
The committee discussed the suspension policy for Kinder-5th grade students and the proposed language and wanted to add to it. So, they would like to look into that further for next time.
Lastly, Sarah shared that she received our special education procedures and is reviewing them in comparison to the policy for any adjustments that need to be made.
