Unless otherwise stated due to COVID-19 precautions, the meeting will be held on the campus of the school (2115 Oakmere Drive Harvey, LA 70058).

Call the Meeting to Order

Dr. Jahquille Ross called a meeting of the Academic Excellence Committee of Laureate Academy Charter School Board of Directors to order on Wednesday Aug 28, 2024 at 4:45 PM.

Approve Minutes 05-29-24

Caitlyn Scales made a motion to approve the minutes from Academic Excellence Meeting on 05-29-24.
Claire Heckerman-Whitehead seconded the motion.
The committee VOTED to approve the motion.

Reflection on Hiring Process

  • Helpful in the moment. Increased capacity. Way too expensive. 
  • Caitlyn, Claire, & Dr. Ross can help coordinate. 
  • Helpful to get someone to screen resumes next hiring season.

DIBELS - Literacy (K-3rd)

  • Data is not complete yet. 

B.

MAP Assessment

  • Intervention supports needed for the following: 3rd grade (ELA), 4th grade (ELA), and 6th grade (ELA), & 8th Grade (ELA) 
  • Moved from 44th to 47th percentile in Math. Lots of growth from Winter to BOY. Above average. 
  • Intervention support needed for 5th, 6th, and 8th grades in the area of Math. 
  • Intervention support needed for 6th grade in the area of Science.

LEAP

  • Decreased 2% overall mastery and advanced. 
  • Science -16% 
  • Math +1%
  • ELA -2%
  • No SS assessment during Spring 2024
  • Focus on individual students - moving them from achievement groups 
  • Shift towards students doing more of the heavy lifting during lessons. 

D.

Teacher Evaluations

  • Formal evaluations taking place twice a year (Fall & Spring). 
  • MAP, Laureate Values, & NIET (collective items for evaluation). 
  • Heavy focus on coaching throughout the year.
