Call the Meeting to Order

Dr. Jahquille Ross called a meeting of the Academic Excellence Committee of Laureate Academy Charter School Board of Directors to order on Wednesday Jul 9, 2025 at 2:40 PM.

Approve Minutes

Monique Handy made a motion to Approve the minutes from the June Academic Excellence Committee meeting.
Dr. Jahquille Ross seconded the motion.
The committee VOTED to approve the motion.

II. Teacher Related Updates

A.

Hiring Needs for 25-26 School Year

  • 2nd grade teacher 
  • 6th grade Humanities - offer out 
  • Speech Therapist - exploring virtual options
  • Paraprofessionals 

B.

End of Year Staff Survey - Results

  • 15 responses 
  • Data Analysis will come in next meeting for board to give feedback. 

C.

Teacher Certification Scholarships

  • Pay more than $2,500 if a teacher wants to do more than one certification area. Most likely SPED certifications due to the shortage area locally and nationally. 
  • We have three applicants interested in receiving scholarship funding for the upcoming school year. 
    • 2 Elementary and SPED 
    • 1 Middle School Math 
  • There are more interest in this program from at least 2-3 educators.

On-going PD & Coaching Plan for Teachers 25-26

Levers: 

  • Weekly Data Meetings (1:1) 
  • Practice Clinics (Weekly during PLC time) 
  • Routines & Procedures 

Leadership

  • Success For All  - need to make a final call 
  • Relay 
    • YC/CHW → Full program 
    • Other leaders → Virtual 

Math: 

  • Eureka Squared Scheduled 

ELA: 

  • CKLA Scheduled 
  • EL - virtual and hoping to work with Jessica Martin
  • Amplify trainers scheduled for summer 
  • STEM Library Lab partnership for ongoing Science-specific training on inquiry-based learning 

Social Studies

  • Gallopade booked, but minimal 

Success for All 

  • Possibility of going with them for SEL instruction this year. 

III. Student Assessment Data

LEAP Results

  • 3% Mastery+ Growth in all subject areas 
  • 2-3 Points of Growth for students in subgroups (Black, ED, SPED, etc.)
  • High Growth Gains Across Subjects 
  • 4th & 8th Grade - ELA 
  • 3rd, 5th, & 8th - Math 
  • 4th, 5th, 7th - Science
