II. 2021 Virtual Gala Planning
A.
2021 Virtual Gala Planning
Jordan Pina, Chief of Staff, overviewed the current School Year 2020-2021 giving and compared the current giving in comparison to School Year 2019-2020. She also shared that right now, 80 percent of the Board of Trustees have donated to City on a Hill.
Pina also provided an update from the event City on a Hill hosted with TRILLFIT, sharing that there were 10 sign-ups that included five paid tickets. The Committee discussed focusing on the planning of the Virtual Gala moving forward and revisiting planning a monthly event after the Gala.
Kevin Taylor, Chief Executive Officer, proposed that because the COAH Virtual Gala will be in celebration of City on a Hill's 25 year anniversary, that the Committee could ask the City on a Hill founders.
The Committee discussed the founders' backgrounds, as well as their level of involvement with City on a Hill currently. The Committee discussed framing the Gala speaker with a past, present, future theme, with the founders, alumni, and current students speaking at the event.
The Committee discussed potential dates for the Virtual Gala, deciding to plan for the first week of May. The Committee also discussed combining pre-recorded messages as well as live speakers on Zoom for the event.
The Committee discussed potential event aspects such as an online auction, a raffle, or a tiered ticket option. The Committee also discussed having a raffle that would have items from local, Black-owned businesses in the Roxbury area. The Committee discussed virtual ticketing for a raffle and allowing attendees to chose which item their tickets go towards. Pina shared that City on a Hill has worked with a service similar in the past that would make virtual ticketing for a raffle possible.
The discussion concluded with the Committee discussing next steps, which will include contacting the proposed speakers for the Gala, designing promotional materials, as well as reaching out to the ticket raffle vendor that City on a Hill has used in the past.
