BCCS Governing Board Meeting

Tuesday January 20, 2026 at 6:00 PM

The Governing Board meets monthly at 6:00 PM in the Superintendent's Conference Room in the Main Building. Dates are noted on the calendar.

 

The Finance Committee meets monthly in advance of the regular board meeting to review financials. 

 

The Student Affairs Committee receives monthly reports from campus leadership.

Call the Meeting to Order

Jenny Van Meter called a meeting of the board of directors of Baconton Community Charter School to order on Tuesday Jan 20, 2026 at 6:08 PM.

Approve Agenda

Sonya Williams made a motion to approve agenda.
Rashelle Minix seconded the motion.
The board VOTED to approve the motion.

Recognition of Guests

None present

E.

Approve Minutes

Shavonne Threatts made a motion to approve the minutes from BCCS Governing Board Meeting on 12-16-25.
Benjamin Brooks seconded the motion.
The board VOTED to approve the motion.

II. Finance Committee

A.

BCCS Finance Reports

Robert Frock made a motion to approve financials.
Rashelle Minix seconded the motion.
The board VOTED to approve the motion.

B.

Bus/Transportation Recommendation

Shavonne Threatts made a motion to approve purchasing 2 - 14 passenger vans and 1 - 83 passenger bus.
Rashelle Minix seconded the motion.

Financing with Bank Of Camilla for five years at 5.25% interest. Buses were put out on procurement site. Ask company for a tow package

The board VOTED to approve the motion.

Facility Update

Missy Harrod stated that she and Kelly are looking at plans for a new building project. The expansion project with the SCSC has a piece to help look at financial 5 year planning tool.

D.

Payroll/Human Resources Update

First payroll will run in house next week.

III. Student Affairs Committee

A.

Student Affairs Monthly Reports

Enrollment down some but not unusual at this point in the semester. Attendance is relatively steady. 126 students absent today. Lots of sickness, fever, vomiting, etc. Dustin Green gave his report in person to the board members.

IV. Governance Committee

GOVERNANCE TRAINING UPDATE

All are registered. Emails will go out with hotel information. Mileage and food receipts will be reimbursed.

V. Administrative Updates

A.

Budget Hearings

March 17th and April 21st are two budget hearing meetings.

VI. Board Member Comments and Concerns

A.

Land swap update

House on Walton Street being torn down and Baconton City Council approved zoning change.

There being no further business to be transacted, and upon motion duly made, seconded and approved, the meeting was adjourned at 6:35 PM.
