- 20240430 ELGIN MATH AND SCIENCE ACADEMY (1).pptx
- EMSA Deferred Maintenance & Capital Plan (6).xlsx
Traditional building(s) assessment. Plenty of documentation with great architects & builders. Clean & clear reports for asbestos, etc. What is being underutilized? How to plan for capital and how to pair with a strategic plan. Capital plan, deferred maintenance plan, interviews, potential uses.
EMSA's land is a unique differentiator.
Elementary bldg--roof leaks, drainage issue causing problems, mechanical upgrades, interior potential for add'l learning space
Gym bldg--sound system, theatre space, wear & tear
Art barn--fav space, access to natural light key, security needs updgrade, surrounding property needs improvement
Dining hall--potential for future use
Dorm bldg--folks don't appear to be interested in using it
Home--maintenance, esp roof replacement
Site/land--best and underutilized asset, recommends master plan w civil engineers re grading, erosion, etc to help inform decisions
Vision for the mission--how does the land support that; ability to evolve thanks to landscape of site...combine this with marketing....staff...enrollment
General feeling--overall it is GOOD--folks take pride; community & inclusion mixed reviews; felt safe until after dark
Utilization of outdoor space needs improvement
Signage & way-finding needs attention! celebrate land we are on (trees....spaces...) Entrance branding...plus matching way-finding....
Lighting...outdoor needed
Tech
Innovation/opportunity....
Where do we go with this information?
Deferred maintenance plan....see attachment
Good shape for mitigating risk....can maintain with an annual plan
Capital plans--nice to haves vs need to haves
Wheeler Kearns Master Plan--have a look
For future master plan, analyze: soils, grading, boundaries, species, et al ("civil" plan)
What doe holistic education look like and how do facilities support that?
Share/partner with community--help a little financially, too
